Lauren H.

Lauren graduated from Grand Rapids Community College in 2010 with a degree in psychology and is currently attending school to obtain her License in Veterinary Technology (LVT). In her free time Lauren enjoys reading, watching baseball, camping, swing dancing downtown, and traveling. She has been to France twice; once in a study abroad program, and another time as an interpreter for a missions group. Lauren also enjoys giving lots of love and attention to her "old man". Lauren always wanted a dog of her own but grew up in a pet-free environment because of her mother's allergies. She moved into her own home in 2010 and the very next day she adopted a chihuahua-dachshund ("chiweenie") named Wrigley.


Angelica is a student at Baker College and will be graduating in the Fall of 2016 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, specializing in management. In the future she would like to work for a non-profit organization that focuses on animal welfare, such as the Humane Society of the United States. At home, Angelica has a 2-year old, spunky, domestic short-hair cat named Emilio. When not at work, Angelica enjoys spending time with friends, attending any music related event, and relaxing.




Maddy graduated from Grand Valley State University Frederick Meijer Honor’s College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2017. Her passions include anything related to animals or the outdoors! Maddy spends most of her free time riding her horse, Star. She loves riding quads, dirt bikes, or snowmobiles, going kayaking, fishing, hiking, and camping. Maddy has an old beagle named Riley and two cats, Remy and Dexter.




Kate is a Grand Rapids native with a degree in film from Grand Valley State University. She is married with two dogs; Freddie, a Boston terrier, and Ellie, a schnauzer mix and has a daughter, Emma. In her spare time she enjoys reading, watching her favorite TV shows, and crafting.



Tessa is from South Haven, MI and graduated from Western Michigan University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Studies. Her passions include: adventuring, kayaking, hiking, and photography. She spends most of her free time exploring her passions with her boyfriend and their two dogs. Her future plans include traveling the world to study endangered species and their habitats.




Madison graduated from Aquinas College in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in biology.  She hopes to attend Michigan State University to earn a degree in veterinary medicine in the near future. Madison has two Australian cattle dogs, a red one named Zooey who is 9 years old, and a blue one named Dexter who is 7 months old. In her free time, Madison enjoys snowboarding, hiking, swimming, and spending time with her friends and family.





Amy grew up in Plymouth, MI and moved to Grand Rapids in 2004. She has been working and volunteering in shelters and veterinary clinics for over 11 years. She plans to pursue a degree in Zoology and fulfill her dream of wildlife conservation. Amy is very passionate about helping people and their pets! When not working, she enjoys playing pool, hiking, painting, and hanging out with her dog, Devo.




Rachel grew up just 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia, PA and came to Michigan for college. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Science in Zoology and decided to stay out here after graduation! When she’s not working she enjoys drawing, running, being outside and watching sports (especially hockey - Go Flyers!). She has always had a love of animals and enjoys working in an environment where she gets to care and help them every day!



Laura is studying Pre-Veterinary Medicine at Grand Valley State University and hopes to attend Michigan State University or Purdue University for vet school in the future. Originally from Muskegon, she loves to visit friends and family when she can. Laura has always had a passion to work with animals; she has dreamed of becoming a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. Laura's interest in medicine and love for animals will drive her to learn more about veterinary medicine as an assistant. Her family owns two dogs and a cat, and she recently adopted her own cat, Carmine, who still lives at home with her family. When not working, Laura enjoys playing clarinet and volunteering with animals.



Skyleigh is currently a student at Baker College of Muskegon where she will obtain her license to be a veterinary technician. Skyleigh is an aspiring world traveler and loves to immerse herself in new cultures. However, her true passion lies in the care of exotic animals. While elephants are her favorite, she is devoted to caring for all animals equally. When Skyleigh is not busy with school or in the middle of planning her next adventure, she loves to spend quality time with her family, friends, and animals! She has a little Rottweiler mix and a German Shepherd. Both are girls who are spoiled rotten! Overall, Skyleigh is passionate about learning new things, especially when it is related to animals, and she is extremely happy to be gaining new experiences at the Animal Emergency Hospital!




Haley is currently in her last year at Grand Valley State University where she is majoring in biology with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine and a minor in chemistry. Haley hopes to go on to veterinary school at Michigan State University. Haley has a very sassy orange cat named Levi, two beautiful horses named Rain and Dallas, and a crazy German Shorthair named Otto. Haley loves all animals, big and small, and has wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. Haley is from Gaylord, Michigan and loves riding horses, boating, fishing, and being with her family.



Joseph recently graduated from Hope College with a degree in biology and minors in chemistry and Spanish. While at Hope, he played on the Men’s soccer team as a goalkeeper for two years. Joseph is passionate about working with animals and helping them feel better, and hopes to go to veterinary school in the future. Outside of work, Joseph likes to spend time exercising, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Joseph is originally from Caledonia, and grew up with two dogs, a Golden Retriever and a red Labrador Retriever, and two cats.




Ashley is originally from California, where she worked an array of pet care jobs. She has always wanted to work at a veterinary office, and AEH has made her dream come true! Ashley has a sweet black lab mix named Luca and a talkative tuxedo cat named Kombu. Most of her down time is spent relaxing with the two of them. When not at home, Ashley enjoys going to the movies, bicycling, fishing, and playing board games with friends. Ashley is very excited to learn more about animal medicine here at AEH, and plans to become a LVT in the near future.



Katie was born in Great Falls, MT, but moved to Michigan when she was young and grew up in the Lake Odessa area. She is planning to attend school in the near future to obtain her License in Veterinary Technology. Katie has always had a passion for helping animals and their people! She and her husband have 5 furry children which include an Australian Shepherd named Sydney, a Mini Aussie named Paisley, and 3 cats: Bubby, Nala, and Sylvester. In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with family and friends, teaching her dogs tricks, trying to keep up with Sydney in Agility, and volunteering at Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary. Katie is excited to spend her time at AEH learning as much as she can and helping your animals!
