Amanda P., LVT

Amanda was raised on a farm in Zeeland, MI with her 2 sisters.  She attended Baker College in Muskegon and graduated with her Veterinary Technician license.  She has worked here at the Animal Emergency Hospital since 2005.  She especially enjoys keeping her patients as comfortable as possible during their stay here by providing them with lavish bedding and lots of attention. In her spare time, she assists in a laboratory course at Baker College in the Veterinary Technician program, pet sits and spends time with her neices and nephews.



Erika has been a Veterinary Assistant at AEH since May 2012. She moved to Grand Rapids in August 2006 from the Chicagoland area to attend Calvin College, where she received a Biology, BS degree and German minor in 2010. She have two cats, named Herb and Asher, plus three rats, named Sheldon, Leonard, and Howard. In her free time, Erika likes to read, watch movies, try new restaurants around West Michigan, and go biking with her boyfriend, Scott. Having always had a passion for animals, Erika believes that it is humanity’s responsibility to care for the animals of this world. She pledges to take the best care of you and your pet while here at AEH.



Paige, LVT

Paige graduated from Chattanooga State Community College with her Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology. Paige and her husband were born and raised in the Upper Peninsula and they enjoy visiting with family up there. Paige devotes most of her time to her daughter, Everly. Her pets are Cooper, a Boston terrier, Izzy, a deaf boxer, Oakley, a tabby cat, Chingy, a bearded dragon, and many fish. She loves working at AEH because it is very challenging and rewarding!



Caitlin O.

Caitlin graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Biomedical Laboratory Science in 2016. She is from Trenton, MI, a small city near Detroit, but currently lives in Kalamazoo, MI. Caitlin has worked at AEH for 2 years and now also works full-time at MPI Research as a Surgical Research Associate. In the future, she hopes to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine or become a certified Medical Laboratory Scientist in a hospital laboratory and continue onto graduate school. Caitlin has a crazy little orange and white striped cat, named Otis James. In her free time, Caitlin enjoys being on the beach, paddle boarding, yoga, and cheering for the Spartans whenever she can.




Cassidy is a student at Grand Valley State University, where she studies Spanish, English, and education. Cassidy has plans to study abroad in a Spanish speaking country over the next few years. She enjoys spending her free time taking photos, going on walks and spending time with family. Cassidy is very open and kind, and enjoys volunteering her time.




Skye, LVT

Skye is a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She graduated from the veterinary technician program at Baker College of Muskegon. Skye brings several years of experience in both emergency and routine veterinary medicine. Her passion is in surgery and critical care. During her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two fur babies, Aurora and Lili.




Alexa recently received her Associate of Arts degree from Grand Rapids Community College, and is now a student at Grand Valley State University. She is currently pursuing a degree in Biomedical Sciences/Pre-Med and a minor in Biology. One day, Alexa hopes to pursue a higher education in animal or human medicine. Alexa has loved helping animals since she was little, so being able to learn and get hands on experience from AEH was a dream come true. When not attending school or working, Alexa spends all of her free time with her daughter Nina, who keeps her motivated and driven to obtain all of her goals.





Jamie was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she attended Caledonia High School. She spent all four years competing on the equestrian team and loved riding and showing horses. She is currently attending Baker College in Muskegon and is pursuing her dream of getting her veterinary technician license. In her spare time, Jamie likes to spend time with her friends and will hang out with her family any chance she gets. She has three beautiful nieces, which she adores, and another niece or nephew on the way.  Jamie does not currently own any pets, but cannot wait for the right time to come in her life for her to adopt a dog … or two.




Chloe is a Pre-Veterinary student at Michigan State University with a major in Nutrition. One day she would like to become a veterinarian for exotic animals or specialize in orthopedics. Chloe is originally from the Flint area and she loves when her parents come to visit her during the school week. Chloe grew up doing water sports and gymnastics, and now enjoys cheerleading and working out. Back at home, Chloe has a few cats that were adopted from the Humane Society and a yellow lab named Friday.




Kali joined the AEH team in January 2016. She spent some time living in Novi, MI before moving to Chelsea where she graduated high school in 2013. Kali graduated in 2017 from Michigan State University with an Animal Science degree with a concentration in Animal Biology/Pre-Veterinary Medicine. In December 2017, Kali was accepted to Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine where she will begin her education in August 2018. Outside of school and work, Kali spends most of her time in Lansing with her Husky, Waldo. She frequently ventures home to Chelsea to help her parents at their Vizsla Kennels. Kali is excited to spend her time at AEH helping your animals!



Lauren D.

Lauren is a Pre-Veterinary student at Michigan State University, majoring in Zoology. Her love and passion for animals has led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She hopes to attend MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine in the future, specializing in small animals. Lauren grew up in Novi, MI, where she has two Bichons at home named Lola and Tyler. In her free time, Lauren enjoys volunteering at animal shelters, running, traveling, and shopping. She is excited to help animals and gain hands-on experience while working at AEH!


Amanda D.

Amanda is a Pre-Veterinary/Biology student at Calvin College and will complete her degree in 2018. She is a captain of the Women’s Lacrosse team at Calvin and a member of the college’s Pre-Vet club. Born and raised in Okemos, MI, she has always had a deep love for animals and science that inspired dreams of becoming a veterinarian at a very young age. Amanda’s family has two beloved pets, a Golden Retriever named Ginger and a cat named Gizmo. Amanda hopes to go on to Michigan State University after she completes her undergrad to earn a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Amanda is very excited about all the opportunities she’ll have by being a part of the AEH team and is eager to learn as much as she can.




Mel was born and raised in Ada, Michigan. She is entering her junior year at Grand Valley State University where she is studying Biology with an emphasis in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. She hopes to attend Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in the future to obtain her DVM. Mel is also a member of the GVSU All-Girl Cheerleading team. When not at Cheerleading, school, or work, Mel enjoys going to hot yoga, spending time with her family, eating peanut butter waffles, and playing with her two pit bulls, Waldo and Winnie.




Haley is currently in her last year at Grand Valley State University where she is majoring in biology with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine and a minor in chemistry. Haley hopes to go on to veterinary school at Michigan State University. Haley has a very sassy orange cat named Levi, two beautiful horses named Rain and Dallas, and a crazy German Shorthair named Otto. Haley loves all animals, big and small, and has wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. Haley is from Gaylord, Michigan and loves riding horses, boating, fishing, and being with her family.



Kylie is currently a junior at Grand Valley State University pursuing a major in Biology with a Pre-Veterinary emphasis and a minor in Chemistry. She is originally from the Upper Peninsula and has always had a passion for working with animals. Kylie has wanted to attend Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and obtain her DVM for as long as she can remember. She has four horses, three cats, two goats, and chickens living at home with her family and one cat named Simba living with her at college. Kylie is also a part of the GVSU All-Girl Cheerleading team. When not at cheer, school, or work, she spends her spare time being outdoors, riding her horses, spending time with family and friends, and loving on her pets whenever possible.




Kelsey is a native of Grand Rapids, MI. She received her Bachelors of Science in Health Communications from Grand Valley State University in 2012. Kelsey is so excited for this new adventure at AEH and to learn more about veterinary care! She hopes to attend Vet Tech school in the near future. In her spare time, Kelsey loves spending time riding her horse, Cara, and playing with her sweet 1 year old blue heeler pup, Finn. When she is not hanging with her animals, Kelsey loves to travel and spend time camping and hiking.




Sara is a student at Ferris State University studying pre-veterinary medicine. She plans to attend vet school in the near future to pursue a DVM degree. Sara is a born and raised farm girl who loves spending time outside with all of her animals. Sara loves to spend time with her family and friends any chance she gets. She also likes to go hiking up north and fishing in the summer. Growing up on her family farm is where Sara’s passion to care for animals came from. Sara is very eager and excited to continue to fuel that passion as she works alongside the AEH team!




Joseph recently graduated from Hope College with a degree in biology and minors in chemistry and Spanish. While at Hope, he played on the Men’s soccer team as a goalkeeper for two years. Joseph is passionate about working with animals and helping them feel better, and hopes to go to veterinary school in the future. Outside of work, Joseph likes to spend time exercising, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Joseph is originally from Caledonia, and grew up with two dogs, a Golden Retriever and a red Labrador Retriever, and two cats.



Lauren T.

Lauren is attending Ferris State University and hopes to one day become a veterinarian. She loves medicine and animals. Lauren is originally from Whitehall, Michigan and always makes time to go home and visit her friends and family. In her spare time, Lauren loves to read (Stephen King is her favorite author!) and spend time with her family, friends, and four guinea pigs! Lauren also has fish and enjoys the fish keeping hobby. She looks forward to expanding her animal family in the future!




Gabie is a senior at Grand Valley State University. She has two cats, Gus Gus and Bear, who live at home with her parents in Hartford, Michigan. In her free time, Gabie enjoys fishing, hiking, long drives, volunteering, and watching the sunset at Lake Michigan. She also works as a kennel worker at Mapleview Animal Hospital and Rescue. Gabie hopes to attend veterinary school and work as a wildlife veterinarian or own a small practice.



Kelci was born and raised in Indiana, but recently got married and moved to her husband’s hometown of Grand Rapids. Kelci has over 3 years of experience as a vet assistant and animal shelter volunteer. She is very excited for this opportunity to learn and grow with AEH!  Kelci has always loved animals and hopes to attend Baker College of Muskegon in the fall to obtain her Veterinary Technician license. Kelci is also a huge advocate for animals being a form of therapy and is passionate about the healing that animals bring to people. She currently does not have any pets at home, but does plan to expand her fur family in the near future! In her spare time, Kelci loves spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, and adventuring with her husband!




Taylor is attending Ferris State University and hopes to one day to be a veterinarian. She is intrigued by exotic animals and aspires to work as a veterinarian in a zoo or to specialize in exotics. Taylor is from Saginaw and often makes trips home and to her camper on the weekends. Along with working at AEH and going to school, Taylor also works at the Saginaw County Road Commission during the summer. In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking through the woods on campus, and watching movies with friends. Taylor has one dog, a bichon frise, named Chloe.
